Best Time to Visit Panama City Beach: A Season-by-Season Guide
Este artículo está en inglés por ahora. La versión en español llegará muy pronto.

The best time to visit Panama City Beach depends on what your family wants: the warmest water, the smallest crowds, the best prices, or an escape from a northern winter. We host guests in every season, so here's our honest guide.
The quick answer
- Best overall: early April to mid-May, and early October to early November. Warm days, fewer crowds, and the water is still pleasant.
- Warmest water: June through early October, when the Gulf is above 80°F and peaks around 85°F in August.
- Quietest and best value: November through February, perfect for snowbirds and long stays.
- Busiest: June, July and spring break in March.
Spring (March to May)
Spring brings blue skies and comfortable temperatures. March is spring break, and Panama City Beach has strict rules that month, including no alcohol on the beach, so families who want calm should aim for April or May. By late April the water is warming up, and May is one of the most beautiful months of the year.
Summer (June to August)
This is classic beach season. Average highs reach about 89°F in July, and the Gulf feels like bath water by August. It's the best time for swimming and long pool days, and also the busiest and most expensive. Book 6 to 12 months ahead, especially for big groups. Expect quick afternoon thunderstorms that usually pass within an hour.
Fall (September to November)
Fall is the locals' secret. The water stays warm through early October, crowds drop after Labor Day, and prices come down. Early October to early November is one of the best stretches of the year. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, so consider travel insurance for late summer and early fall trips, and watch the forecast.
Winter (December to February)
Winter in Panama City Beach is mild, not tropical: January averages a high near 63°F and a low near 48°F, and the Gulf drops into the low to mid 60s. It's too cool for most people to swim in the Gulf, but perfect for long beach walks, sunsets, golf and heated indoor pools.
Snowbird season: a winter home on the beach
If you're escaping snow up north, Panama City Beach in winter is a peaceful, affordable way to spend a month or more by the Gulf. Snowbird season generally runs November through February, and monthly rates are far lower than summer weeks.
Our Gulf-front condos at Tidewater Beach Resort are favorites with snowbirds: a heated indoor pool, hot tubs, a fitness center, a free movie theater and a walk to Pier Park for dinner. One of our winter guests stayed more than a month and loved the hot tubs on chilly evenings and watching football in the resort theater.

Tips for picking your dates
- Families with school-age kids: early June and late August are often a little calmer than the Fourth of July weeks.
- Couples: May and October are hard to beat.
- Big groups: lock in summer dates early; side-by-side condos fill fast.
- Budget travelers: look at late September through February, and ask about our no-interest payment plans.
